Friday Fives

1) I finished up my weekly writing goals early this week, which is extra-great because my parents and sister will be in town visiting. Hooray! Also hooray for my WIP surpassing 10K. You have to celebrate the small steps along the way. :)

2) The Age of Miracles. It's so good that I don't want to finish reading it. I love the mood, the voice, the understated anxiety of the setting. Plus, the dust jacket design is one of my all-time faves; it's creative and lovely.

3) A stingray is responsible for the best photobomb of all time. I'm not kidding. It will make your day. Please go see it here.

4) Seemingly overnight, Halloween stores have popped up all over my neighborhood. That means it's time to plan for a costume! Any suggestions for a bookish but recognizable one?

5) Next week is Banned Books Week. Are you picking up a banned or challenged book to read?

UPDATE: Finished The Age of Miracles last night, by staying up way past my bedtime. It was worth it; some books are not meant to be finished during a soggy morning commute but in a place where you can sit with the final page and wipe the tears from your eyes. What a great book.
